General Manager Sales


Job Description

Oversee daily operations of the business unit or organization. Provide direct management of key functional managers and executives in the business unit. Ensure the development of tactical programs to pursue targeted goals and objectives.



  1. Responsible for revenue generation across products and regions and ensure yields across products through Regional Managers and Marketing Managers
  2. Ensure quality of distributor activities and Area Sales managers across region
  3. Implementation of Billing targets at all India level
  4. Responsible for interacting with foreign principals on technical support and commercial/pricing matters
  5. Keep a tab on arithmetic calculations, pricing structures, gross margin and profitability
  6. Responsible for Marketing and Sales and works through Marketing Managers and Regional Managers to achieve top line market share and achieve revenue and brand objectives
  7. Prepare Business Plan on business design, structure, process and operating plan and financial model
  8. Strategize and plan the sales process management, forecasting, pricing, key account management, expenses, profitability, new product development, market research and brand strategy
  9. Periodically review distributor performance through Regional Managers and check on gaps in performance and seek reasons and actionable steps to close the gaps
  10. Conduct effective and accurate market research and apply this information to increase market share
  11. Conduct regular meeting with distributors and sales team to discuss target status, product training and sales strategy
  12. Conduct customer or training seminars as per the requirement of regions
  13. Monitor and analyze all marketing and sales reports received from regional office and also distributor feedback
  14. Ensuring all approvals related to consultants and other Government authorized bodies are made in a proper and timely manner.
  15. Coordinate, prepare and launch new products for the assigned market(s) with cooperation of the respective sales department in the respective regions
  16. Ensure the confidentiality of the customer list, mailing lists and other sensitive company information.
  17. Motivate and monitor sales representatives in Mumbai, branch offices and distributors on marketing and sales activities
  18. Coordinate with administration, commercial and factory departments to ensure timely orders, and smooth function of action in the system.
  19. Update management on business process and operating plan and financial model and profitability

Job Duties and Tasks for


  1. Develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
  2. Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
  3. evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.
  4. Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services, working with advertising and promotion managers.
  5. Direct the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of marketing and sales staff and oversee their daily activities.
  6. Negotiate contracts with vendors and distributors to manage product distribution, establishing distribution networks and developing distribution strategies.
  7. Consult with product development personnel on product specifications such as design, color, and packaging.
  8. Compile lists describing product or service offerings.
  9. Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, lines, or services, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends.
  10. Select products and accessories to be displayed at trade or special production shows.
  11. Confer with legal staff to resolve problems, such as copyright infringement and royalty sharing with outside producers and distributors.
  12. Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers, to market products and services.
  13. Advise business and other groups on local, national, and international factors affecting the buying and selling of products and services.
  14. Initiate market research studies and analyze their findings.
  15. Consult with buying personnel to gain advice regarding the types of products or services expected to be in demand.
  16. Conduct economic and commercial surveys to identify potential markets for products and services.

Desired Candidate Profile


  1. Bachelor Degree / MBA in (Marketing & Sales), with 25‐30 years’ experience field sales experience and demonstrated levels of performance across varied situations
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication.
  3. Solid presentation skills and ability to explain complex processes to an audience.
  4. Expert in financial management and persistent business will to succeed.
  5. Planning and managing the company’s performance.
